Another speaker announcement which couldn't be more relevant to our theme of Boundaries - Alexander Morrison will be joining us in August to speak about boundaries and border-making during the Russian conquest of Central Asia. Based on archival research in Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Georgia and India, memoirs and Islamic chronicles, Alexander's book explains how Russia conquered a colonial empire in Central Asia, with consequences that still resonate today.

Alexander is a Fellow and Tutor in History at New College, University of Oxford and his work focuses on European and Asian history as well imperial history and the history of warfare.
