Talk on the Irish Diaspora at Skibbereen Library, Friday 9 August 11am

There will be a free history talk at Skibbereen Library on Friday 9 August at 11am which ties in really well with this year's Festival theme of Diaspora.

Rory Bunce from their Local Studies Department has created a presentation about the Irish Diaspora, with a focus on Irish Americans and "debunking some of the cliches we might have in Ireland around our cousins there". He will also give some great tips on reaching the diaspora so it can benefit our own research and family history journey. Further information and contact details for the Library can be found below.

The Library is also very lucky to have hard copies of the 1842 Ordnance Survey of Cork County, so if anyone would like to look at these maps, please contact the Library to make an appointment. Their opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 9:30am to 5:30pm.
